Superoxide Dismutase Binding and Release Behaviors of Dodecylated Poly(allylamine)s: Effects of SelfAggregation and Organic Solvents
نویسندگان
چکیده
pH sensitive dodecyl-modifi ed poly(allylamine)s associate with superoxide dismutase (SOD) in aqueous solutions at pH 5.5 and 7.4. The bound SOD can be released completely at pH 10.0 due to the self-aggregation of the polymers. In a mixture of water and organic solvent, the hydrophobic groups of the polymers are exposed. During the process of removing the organic solvent, the polymers increase their hydrophobic interactions with SOD. As a result, the SOD binding of the polymers increases; the release of SOD from the complexes is remarkably extended. The released SOD molecules have full activity. The knowledge gained in this study will be benefi cial to the applications of hydrophobically modifi ed polyelectrolytes as delivery carriers for protein/peptide drugs.

Superoxide dismutase play important roles in iron-respiratory bacteria such as Geobacteraceae as an antioxidant defense, and probably an effective enzyme of electron transfer network. Regarding the application of iron-respiratory bacteria in environmental biotechnology particularly biodegradation and bioremediation, understanding the mechanism of inhibition/induction of superoxide dismutase by ...

Objective(s): to investigate the chronopharmacological effects of growth hormone on executive function and the oxidative stress response in rats. Materials and Methods: Fifty male Wistar rats (36-40 weeks old) had ad libitum access to water and food and were separated into four groups: diurnal control, nocturnal control, diurnal GH-treated, and nocturnal GH-treated animals. Levels of Cu, Zn sup...
متن کاملOxidative stress indices in rats’ lung tissues following simultaneous exposure to noise and styrene
Background: Simultaneous exposure to noise and organic solvents such as styrene is an indispensable part of today’s industries. Numerous studies were done related to ototoxic effects of co-exposure to noise and styrene while some evidences showed the adverse effects of such exposure on other organs. In this study, we aimed to assess the subacute effects of combined exposure to noise and s...
متن کاملMechanism of Cu,Zn-superoxide dismutase activation by the human metallochaperone hCCS.
The mechanism for copper loading of the antioxidant enzyme copper, zinc superoxide dismutase (SOD1) by its partner metallochaperone protein is not well understood. Here we show the human copper chaperone for Cu,Zn-SOD1 (hCCS) activates either human or yeast enzymes in vitro by direct protein to protein transfer of the copper cofactor. Interestingly, when denatured with organic solvents, the apo...

Isotactic poly (1-butene), ipbu-1, was synthesized by using a metallocene catalyst. The thermodynamic phase behavior of polymer–organic solvents systems is very important in every polymer application. In this paper, the solid–liquid equilibrium of ipbu-1 with different organic solvents (1-heptyne, cyclo octane) was studied by a mathematical model. By considering the experiments temperature...
